OFFICIAL BRAND Skin That Looks Like Skin—But Better.

I got multiple shades for comparison and for my makeup kit. I got the shades light, medium, tan and deep. The light is pretty close to my skintone but I like to mix light and medium for my custom color. It's recommend to apply this with your fingers to help blend this out. It starts completely white and when you appy this with your fingers it releases the pigments. It says it stops at your custom shade but that's gimmicky because this is light coverage so this works for range of skin tones. I'm not complaining at all because the finish look so nice and skin like. This also layered well with other makeup like blush and bronzer ect. It lasted well but It did transfer a tad bit but I think I need to set it better with setting spray. This tinted serum feels lightweight on and keep my face feeling moisturized with the skincare ingredients.

The first thing I did with this wasn’t put it on my face. I swatched it on the back of my hand because I wanted to see if the color changing claim was real. It is. The cream comes out much lighter, then as you work it into your skin the encapsulated pigments gradually release and the shade deepens right in front of you. I was even able to photograph a little light to dark gradient before I finished rubbing it in. It was actually pretty fascinating to watch. One thing I learned very quickly is that a little goes a long way. I squeezed out what looked like a reasonable amount and immediately realized it was far too much just for the back of my hand. Even though the brand calls this a tinted serum, it felt more like applying a lightweight foundation to me. The coverage landed somewhere around medium, and it’s definitely buildable if you want more. This stuff also likes to stay where you put it. I ran my swatch under water and it barely noticed. Soap removed it, but it even left behind a little stain on my hand while I was washing it off, so the long wear claim doesn’t seem far-fetched. My only lingering question is how much control you actually have over the shade. Since the color keeps developing as you blend, I found myself wondering if you’re supposed to stop blending once you reach a match or if the pigments eventually develop all the way regardless. I wasn’t able to answer that from my testing. I do like that there’s more going on here than just pigment. The formula also includes niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, caffeine, maracuja oil, vitamin E, and even diamond powder for a little added radiance, although I wish the listing highlighted those ingredients because I only found them on the packaging. Overall, this was a fun product to test. If you enjoy trying new makeup technology, watching the shade transform is worth seeing for yourself. Just start with much less product than you think you need.

The TARTE CC tinted serum in the shade Light surprised me once I actually blended it in. When I first dotted it onto the back of my hand I got a little worried because it looked so white, definitely not close to my skin tone, but after rubbing it in it transformed into a soft foundation like color that ended up just slightly darker than my natural skin. I actually think that works out well for summer since my skin tends to tan a bit and this will let the serum keep adapting as my tone shifts. The finish landed in a nice in between spot for me, not fully matte since I could still feel it sitting on my skin with a bit of stickiness, but not overly dewy either since I never felt like I needed to reach for shine control throughout the day. The texture itself felt like a nice hybrid between a lotion and a foundation, which made it really easy to apply and blend into my skin. The coverage evened out my complexion nicely for no makeup days and I didn't experience any irritation while wearing it, even with my skin being on the sensitive side. It also held up well and lasted through most of my day without needing touch ups. TARTE markets this as vegan and cruelty free with a natural finish, and I appreciated that a single dot was really all I needed to cover my whole face.
